One or two years ago, when I liked to write about all kinds of evils of hanging a small boss, I hated it most. One of the situations I wrote over and over again was that the small boss, the small leaders tortured the people of their company or their team with their endless ideas.
One of the most typical cases is that many enterprises implemented the 5.5-day working system, that is, the first half-day work on Saturdays. But the difference between the relaxed leisure on Saturdays morning and on Fridays afternoon in the five-day working system is that this kind of 5.5-day working system is the most distressing on Saturdays morning, especially near noon, when teams usually meet. Near 10 o’clock after work, when you meet a leader or boss who can pull, you can stay till 1 o’clock. (There’s a good chance that nothing can be concluded at the end of the day.)
Why? Because we are employees, we need to punch in at 8:30 or 9 o’clock, so we usually have breakfast around 8 o’clock, or even earlier.
Small bosses usually play too high and fight too hard on Friday nights. It’s almost ten o’clock when they wake up. On the way to the company, they eat a brunch at the breakfast shop. It’s nearly eleven o’clock when they come to the company. They sit down and make a cup of tea, listen to all kinds of reports while drinking. They are refreshed. When they go to the toilet, they start to tangle with the company’s people for a meeting. For him, lunch is the time for lunch. The best time for dinner is around two o’clock in the afternoon.
In such a small company, you will often encounter a phone call from the boss on Sunday, and you will arrive at the company. Most of the time, he has thought of some wonderful idea temporarily. He wants to find you to discuss the feasibility, or let you work overtime to realize it.
After I was tortured by this situation, I often discussed with my colleagues at that time why such bosses were so energetic and tireless, and then took us to suffer together.
Later, we found that this kind of leader or boss is generally around the age of 40 or 50. The children have gone to school, lived a widowed marriage life, stayed at home feeling uninteresting, did not cultivate any personal hobbies, worked hard for their career, and did not have any good friends to play with. Therefore, turning to the company has become the best way for them to get rid of boredom, but one person in the company. Playing is not interesting, you need someone to accompany you, so you will think of many unreliable ideas.
Whether this idea is meaningful or not is not important, the key is that someone accompanies him chatting, someone accompanies him idly, accompanies him to spend a long boring time, because he walked out of the company, is likely to be a lonely middle-aged person. The company is not only the place where he searches for a sense of existence, but also the place where he is bored and relieves boredom.
So you will understand why there are bosses doing business is not imaginative sunset industry, the company has been in a semi-dead state, not much development, but the boss is still a workaholic, he really loves his career?
Strong > No, for these bosses, the company is really their home.
Since then, I have a recognition that I try to avoid this kind of business which regards the company as the owner of my own home, because it is his home, not yours.
